PHARMACEUTICAL TABLETS AND MEDICAL SYRUPS

In medical tablets, sorbitol is used as a plasticizer, volume booster, shelf life extender. In medical syrups, sorbitol and maltitol are preferred because of their volume booster, crystallization inhibiting and cariogenic features. It is used in sugarless solution and syrup formulations. Sorbitol is used as a stabilizer in vitamin and drug suspensions.
